What would be a good digetal camera to take pictures of humming birds. I have enjoyed seeing yalls humming birds and plants an I want to do the same next year. Red
With digital cameras , it just depends on how much money you want to spend. There are a lot of good point and shoot camers out there. One bit of advise I might pass on is if you plan on taking videos make sure the camera has an avi. mode for taking vids and not mov. mode. If a person has an older pc like I do it can make a difference. If you have a new updated one it may not matter.
I was thinking of posting the same question. I have so many pics of my hummers, but they look aweful compared to the ones I see posted. I need something easy to use but takes good pics. Hopefully your post will help me find the right camera.
Red, I am very dissapointed in my camera. If I get a good hummer picture it's just luck. Two things. First a remote control with a tripod would help tremendously. The camera is perfectly still, and you are not there to scare them away. Second, a camera with manual focus that works well would really help. Mine is impossible to focus on manual, although it's a feature of the camera. And in bright daylight, the display fades and cant be used to focus anyway. Just a couple of suggestions.
Personally I use a canon sx10 and it has a 20x optical zoom and I had upgraded from a canon S5IS 12x opt. Actually the S5 was easier to use I just wanted the higher zoom. But many of the quality point and shoot cams nowadays have the image stabilizer which counteracts hand shake. Luckily the prices are coming down to where you can get a good one between the $200-300 range. Many people put up reviews over on you tube with demonstrations of the cameras performance. Just type in the one you may be interested in .
I forgot to warn anyone about the canon SX10 , I messed up when buying this one as it has the mov. format for vids which causes me to have to use extra software to load vids on my computer for viewing. But my pc is 7-8yrs old , if you have a newer pc that issue may not come into play. Ask the person who you buy the camera from about that issue. Good luck.
