A New Female Visitor!

| A new female appeared on 10/30 but I guess she was just passing through. On Sunday, another female arrived and she's pretty fat so obviously she's had plenty of meals on her way south! I haven't had a hummer this late in the season for many years! She was at the feeder early this morning and of course, she may be outta here by this afternoon, but I am still thrilled to have her!

| donna Amazing that you still have hummers passing through. Im sitting here thinking and wondering how many more would you have and perhaps stay a little longer if you had a few hummer plants for them to enjoy. I have found that some young birds that havent yet learned about feeders but will use flowers, just a thought. |

| Steve, you may be right. I have some large lantana still in full bloom and when my hummer population was high, they would sometimes feed on them, but they sure preferred the feeders. Currently, one feeder is on a sherperd's hook smack in the middle of the lantana, and I just added another one close to it. Their location should be easy to spot. I do plan to add some plants for next season hopefully to give me the best of both worlds! Didn't see my new visitor early this morning but I've been gone for awhile. I'm keeping a list of all the plants that have been recommended by the forum. Donna |
