| I have had several messages recently asking about the best Salvias for hummingbirds. As much as I enjoy the mails, and I do seriously enjoy looking at the beautiful pictures, I have to remind you all that we do not have hummingbirds in Europe. Just wish that we did, as I have seen the beautiful creatures in California, Barbados, and Ecuador. The only thing we have in the UK is the humming-bird hawk-moth, which is stunning, but only occasionally in a hot summer. Had a few this year.
Was thrilled to receive seeds of a very popular humming-bird plant this year, Salvia subrotunda, thanks very much to Nancy, this has been extremely successful here, pity there were no hummers with it! Sincere regards, Robin. (UK) www.robinssalvias.com |

| Robin, Subrotunda was really quite popular with my hummers here in NY and it did fair a bit longer than the coccineas after the first frost. I have a couple right now that have reseeded and flowered albeit quite small. My plants have lost nearly all their leaves now but the main stem is still green and several are trying to put on new growth close to the base of the stem. You can thank Nancy over Here Penny |

| When I first saw your post and where you are I wondered what you were up to , for I certainly did not thing you had hummers there on the Island and if you did how it world would they get there. Its quite amazing that some of them fly to south america. |

| Steve, Robin has one of the most awsome salvia collections in the world as far as I am concerned. If you haven't already checked out his gallery you really should do so. It is quite a shame that he has no hummingbirds to share his bounty with....it is a hummers paradise for sure. Penny |
