Rufous Hummingbird spending some cold-weather time in Louisville

Darbygirl51@aol.com, a member of this forum, sent me an e-mail telling about a hummingbird that arrived around Thanksgiving and as of December 16th is still visiting her yard daily. Since hummingbird photography is my favorite hobby, I went to visit the next day and have been getting some videos/photos of the female rufous. This is my first experience with a hummingbird during the winter months and it has been very rewarding.
I just joined this forum and plan to post photos later.
I invite you to visit my website that has many photos of ruby-throat hummingbirds - http://e-hummingbirds.com

I'll second that! The best hummer photos I've ever seen! Double WOW!!!

I had my first female rufous this December 21st. (Atlanta) She was only in my yard, over the hanging pansy basket, for a few minutes but it was still very exciting. I immediately got the sugar water ready but she has not been back.

Thanks so much for posting these lovely RT photos! Janie
