Tetraploid Acidanthera

Posted by orchidsrule Zones 5-6 (not sure) (My Page) on

I have a question about gladioli. Acidanthera bicolor (Gladiolus Callianthus) is usually a triploid. However, after doing some reading, I have found references to a tetraploid form. Does anybody know where I can find one these plants, how I can make another tetraploid, or have some stock for sale of said plant?

Thanks.

Paul

RE: Tetraploid Acidanthera

If you are aiming to cross this species with tetraploid garden glads, you could get a head start using 'Lucky Star' - a tetraploid variety derived from Acidanthera and garden glads.
