Is the pollen from a 'Lord Baltimore' hibiscus sterile?

Since the Lord Baltimore does not produce seeds (last fall)I tried to pollinate some of my other "fertile hibiscus's" with the Lord Baltimore's pollen. These pollinated hibiscus's produced seeds, I am now soaking the seeds in water but none of the seeds are dropping down to the bottom ....which most likely means the seeds are not viable. Has anyone else used pollen from a Lord Baltimore with any good results?

RE: Is the pollen from a 'Lord Baltimore' hibiscus sterile?

Hello iloveflowers41A, No experience with this species, but my research says that its pollen is viable within its own species. It apparently sets it's own seed very well also. I agree that floating seed usually means empty contents, but try cutting some open to see. Try planting anyway.
Regards, Brian Kerr.
