Saving abutilon pollen?

Posted by aker 7 (My Page) on

Hi,

Is there a way to save abutilon pollen to be used for crossing? If so how long would it be viable for?

Thank you :-)

RE: Saving abutilon pollen?

The last section of this USDA PDF document states that desiccation-tolerant types of pollen can be stored for 2 years at 0 degrees Fahrenheit, but those that are not desiccation-tolerant are expected to only last from a few hours to a few days. Not sure which category Abutilon or other Malvaceae pollen fall into.

Most of the document is about seed storage.
