Cross Breeding Trees???

I know there is a hybrid Poplar out there and other trees that growers have created for trees. Better fruiting, growing time, etc.

I am from CA and there is a tree out there that will not grow where I live now. (zone 5/6) my dad loves this tree and the purple flowers. It's a Jacaranda. And when I was out in CA last year I grabbed some seed pods in hopes to grow a tree for him, so he could keep it in the house and kinda bonzied. Surpirised planted 5 seeds a year later and 2 grew and doing well. (link to image of tree http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Jacaranda_in_Blossom.jpg )

But I have knowticed there is another tree that has the same leaf as the Jacaranda. And was wondering if there was a way to cross breed the two trees so it could live in Zone 5/6 outside and survive the winters here but still have the pretty purple flowers.

Is this possible? Is there a way to get a Jacaranda tree to live here? Or am I dreaming? :o)

I'm afraid that you are wishful thinking.
