Does anyone know of any work done with the paperbark maple?

RE: Acer griseum

A. griseum has been crossed with A. triflorum; the hybrid is more vigorous than A. griseum, but the bark is not quite as handsome. This cross is available in the trade, but you have to look hard to find them.

I have about 100 seeds of Acer Griseum.
Is there anything I should know that would help to maximize germination %. I plan to plant them in a shallow row of course peat moss before freeze-up and then hope for the bes - having marked the location of the row.

A. griseum is known for having low germination. I know of one non-hybrid cultivar currently on the market, selected for superior bark and fall color. Still rare due to difficult propagation and slow growth.
