If I plant one Thomas Black Walnut tree, grafted, can I expect a crop of nuts with no other Black Walnut Tree close by?

Yes. Walnuts generally aren't very self fertile. But Thomas is somewhat self fertile. You would get better crops if there was a seedling from a different tree or a different named variety nearby.
