hydrangea blooms badly

Hello,
I have been having trouble with my hydrangeas, who have been very happy in their current location all the previous seasons (I inherited them along with the garden and the previous owner was much more knowledgeable than i am). i have attached some pictures; the flowers are very pale and don't bloom properly, and some of the leaves, especially the "hidden" ones crinkle and burn around the edges (see photos).
any feedback on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

RE: hydrangea blooms badly

Some of my hydrangea leaves tend to suffer from soil moisture issues as you describe. It is quite hot here in the summer so, if I get absent minded and do not pay attention to soil moisture (or lack of) & temperature changes, some of the leaves will brown from the edges. The flowers will also brown out due to moisture issues and too much sun.

Root rot can also cause this type of problem because the roots can no longer send the amount of water needed to the leaves. However, I would expect that, if your plant had root rot, the disease would produce much much more damage than the one seen in your photo.
