Hydrangea

This hydranea was an original plant when I purchased my cottage 11 years ago. I did not bloom for a number of years until I started ammending the soil and providing ample water.

I tried to research it using a number of books but I was not able to find a match. I appears to be a type of lacecap but the florets are all in bloom. It has a flat folower head; not round like a mophead. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Gary

RE: Hydrangea

Since it has been around for a while there, it follows that it is not one of the newer varieties. Since it blooms in Z5 for you, investigate Hydrangea Coerulea. If it is growing with winter protection, also check the asperas and serratas. Those prefer Z6, which is why I added the comment of flowering with winter protection. A microclimate could also allow a Z6 hydrangea to bloom unprotected where you live.
