how much to use

I raise worms but im new at it.I know the vermicompost is good for plants but has anyone used it on hydrangeas i dont have any idea how much to use.My hydrangeas are small yet they were quart plants last spring.I hear not to use too much but what is too much.I sure could use some help thank you.

I used a sliver of earthworm castings last Spring, about 1/2 inch or so, but, I would spread about a 1/4 inch sliver on very young plants.
