It is a florist's or greenhouse hydrangea, generally some variety of macrophylla. These are almost always intended as a short term flowering houseplant. Since they are from a temperate climate, they do not do well indoors for an extended period although some folks do have longer success with them. Typically indoors is too warm, too dark and too dry for them to be very happy indefinitely. And as these are pretty fussy, coddled plants, it is unlikely that it will survive well outdoors in your climate either.

Keep in a cool, bright place but out of direct sunlight. Do not let the soil dry out but be careful about over watering. Should it survive until warm weather, at that time you could pot it up into a larger container and place in a protected area outdoors -- a covered porch is good or a shady patio. It will need to be brought in again for winter but will need to be allowed to go dormant. IOW, it won't look like it does now this time next year :-)

If you choose to plant outside at the appropriate time, it will require winter protection.

It is often best to enjoy these for as long as possible indoors and toss it when it begins to decline.
