Moving plants due to a renovation

I have 5 hydrangea plants (3 years old) that are just starting to bud (we live in Michigan and have had unseasonably warm weather). We will be starting a home renovation project within the next couple of months which will require me to move the hydrangeas to another location. They are currently in the west side if my house and I would ideally like to replant them in the same general area (they will be shifted over about 5 feet) once the renovation is complete. I have to remove them and my question is what do I do with them in the interim? Should I plant them in pots?
