Hello, jbeg0508. Nursery plants get forced to bloom at odd times so it is not surprise that, on their first year in the garden, they behave slightly differently.

For many possible reasons, some hydrangeas will also delay leaf out as late as late May so, at this point in time, do not worry. Keep their soil well mulched and constantly moist. Do not fertilize them this year as the nursery pot is probably full of those round fertilizer pellets.
