oakleaf hydrangea

i have one oakleaf - doing well - beautiful - now the question - it has sprouts coming from the ground - some as far away as 18 inches - should i cut them or leave the alone

You could let them grow and harden, then you could dig and severe those sprouts from the mother plant and give new hydrangeas to friends or plant them somewhere else.
