frosted off Nikko, info on later smaller bloom

Hello all, I am in zone 5b and have a Nikko Blue I have had for several years. i have been wondering about that second smaller flush of bloom I get when it has been frosted off from no protection.

1) Where on the plant do these smaller blooms originate?

Since this year I didn't get it protected and we have had many ups and downs in temps, I am sure I won't get much of a bloom display.

  1. I was wondering if there is a way to enhance this smaller bloom time that comes later in the season?

3) My Nikko seems to have its blooms down below the leaves and then they are hard to see and the flowers that aren't flop to the ground. Is there anything it is lacking to stiffen the stems a bit? Do I trim down the leaf shoots to make the flowers more visible?

I love learning the technicalities of gardening, and lurking on this forum gives me lots to learn.

Thank You all!!

Dianna
