Strange Merrit's Beauty Wilting...

Hi all! I recently bought a lovely Merrit's Beauty Hydrangea that still had green, closed (ish) blooms on it and potted it in a planter on my south-facing covered patio. I believe it gets the proper amount of sun (morning sun only!) and the proper amount of water, but I'm having a strange issue.

Everything looked beautiful and healthy when I took the plant home, but the very next day after potting it, one of the clusters wilted along with two surrounding leaves. I have had it for over a week now and this cluster remains wilted and so do the leaves. The thing is, everything else looks lovely! The blooms are opening up ever so slowly and getting a beautiful pink color, the leaves look full and sturdy, etc.

I /suspect/ my husband may have been a little over-zealous in loosening up the root ball and may have damaged some roots going to that cluster. Maybe? Might that cause this issue? What else might cause it? Should I get rid of the wilted areas?
