I would post pictures of the blooms when they open. A few pictures from different angles, maybe including a close up would help.

It's a Viburnum, not a hydrangea. Again, only way to confirm which of the many, many different types is to post photos of the shrub in bloom.

Thank you! I was deciding whether or not to keep the plants where they are since the previous owners did a less than OK job with the landscape in my opinion. They look pretty healthy though so I will just wait and see.

FYI Viburnums are similar to hydrangeas in that they come in both mophead and lacecap forms. Some of them are fragrant also. Most seem to bloom very early in the season, about now as you can see. Also, some get quite a bit larger. I believe the opulus roseum "snowball" ones can get almost 20' tall! But, overall their flowers do not last as long as those of hydrangeas before disappearing.
