HAD NO BLOOMS LAST YEAR PUT GREAT LOOKING PLANTS . IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET BLOOMS THIS YEAR DID NOT PRUNE THIS YEAR.

I don't thnk I'd be overly concerned - plants that are only entering their second season are not generally expected to be lush and full and blooming heavily. It takes time for a shrub to establish, develop an adequate root system and then start producing a lot of growth and flowers.......sounds to me like they are pretty much performing as they should on schedule :-) And some varieties just take a bit longer to settle in than others and it's still quite early in the season. Just provide the same care and attention you would with any of your other hydrangeas and be patient. I'd bet next season they will look much better.

puttyk - just a couple of things :-) It is always a good idea to start your own thread when you have a question rater than tacking on your question to someone else's thread. It is just more polite. Also, writing all in caps is the online equivalent of shouting - it is considered bad form and is difficult to read besides.

To answer your question properly, we need to know what kind of hydrangeas you are referring to, as that will determine the response. I'd suspect Hydrangea macrophylla, as that seems to be the species that prompts the most questions. If so, unless you offer winter protection in your zone for these plants it is unlikely they will ever bloom. These bloom on growth that was produced the previous season and unless that growth and any flower buds are protected from winter cold, they will not bloom.

Thank you for your response gardengal. I feel a little better :-) Perhaps I just got spoiled in how well all of my other hydrangeas did; I will let them go and see how they do.
