| I bought a Quick Fire Hardy Hydrangea last year and I'm not sure what kind of fertilizer do I use. I put 5-10-5 on it this spring, but I feel that is not correct. Should I use a acid fertilizer like HollyTone??? Thanks in advance for your help. |

| Hello, chuckby. On the northern half of the country, you can apply a general purpose, slow release fertilizer like Osmocote or 1/2 to 1 cup of manure or cottonseed meal in June. That is it. Mulch with 3-4" to maintain soil moisture and add weak fertilizers such as coffee grounds, liquid seaweed or liquid fish. Stop all fertilizing in July in order to discourage the plant from staying in growth mode at times when it should be going into dormancy. |
