Probably nothing as it many times (not always though) prefers to grow until it reaches the top of the object that it is trained to grow and then it explodes in blooms. But just in case, make a soil check to look for mineral defficiencies, make sure you are not giving it too much fertilizer (stop at the end of June so it will go dormant in time to protect flower buds from early frosts) and make sure the soil remains evenly moist during dry winters (but stop watering if the soil freezes). So do not panic; you are probably doing fine... just know your CH is simply being "normal"....

Mine did the same thing ~ threw some buds & blooms the following year of planting ~ I bet still had left over hormone treatments from the growers/nursery. Took another 2 years before producing & only a few ~ I guess as slow grower as they are so are their bloom productions!!! Patience & direct your attention to others, in a few years she'll just surprise you!

Mine is in her 8th season ~ our early Spring got her started producing sooner but a few overnite hard freezes (I didn't cover up) freeze burned the young buds ~ she rested a bit & produced a few more tho not as many as she might have if uninterrupted by Ma Nature!!!

Ignore her a while but w/o forgetting to water!!!
