Hydrangea dead 2nd year

EfosterV

I made a mistake and way overzealously pruned my Endless Summer hydrangea (cutting out about 1/2 or even 3/4 of seemingly dead stems on a smallish bush that had never been very productive and seemed to be nothing but dead wood.) i did this in the Spring of 2012, and that summer, it produced nothing, not even foliage where the previous summers it had at least produced foliage and maybe a dozen blooms of varying sizes (some quite small). After my mistake last Spring, though, It stayed just a bunch of dead stems all Summer, very unattractive. I also fertilized it with some acidic fertilizer at some point last year. I was hoping this Spring/summer it would return but I am seeing no life again. Is it completely dead?
