Nooooooooo! My poor oakleaf :(

My newly planted oakleaf hydrangea had an unfortunate encounter with a weed eater this morning. It's been in the ground for about two months and although it just had a single stalk, it was doing well. It was about a 2 feet high with a lovely set of leaves.

Now it's just a ripped up 2" stalk with a jagged edge. :( Is there any hope for its recovery?
