should be fine...oakleaves love the sun...it prefer drier soil vs other hydrageas as well...sun exposure will give you better foliage color in autumn...full sun exposure does cut down the amt of time the blooms will last on the plant..so, give it a spot with very good drainage, remember to water it during the summer droughts, full sun is ok - it will cut down the show time for the blooms but give you good looking autumn foliage colors...jmho.
