The Majestic Series originated from University of Georgia's Dr. Michael Dirr several years ago, 2007 or 2008. Other than being resistant to powdery mildew, I never found much of a commercial selling point. The other highlights seemed appropriate to many other hydrangeas: easy to grow, good to Zone 6, etc.

The Doublicious Series from vivagarden.com was introduced a little after the Majestic Series, had as its commercial selling points being a re-blooming hydrangea and of having double the number of sepals. Oddly, I remember that when the series wasa introduced, the press release said "people in Texas and the Southeast" could enjoy these shrubs via HD. Well, I do not know why but, I have yet to see them here. Maybe my HD Stores do not order many so they sell out but gee. I also found a "sort of discrepancy" in the stated height. One page in the website said that they were over 3' and another page said 5'x5'. Techincally both might be true but I would not say "over 3'" when the plant is 5x5.

I have not seen too many posts about these two so far. That may be excellent news since many people will post when they have a problem.

I have not seen any new additions for the last 2-3 years to either series.
