A couple of questions

A month or so ago, we transplanted 2 very large, mature macs from the back of the house to the front. I think I may have planted the larger of the 2 slightly too deep. The old growth has some leaves on most branches and new growth is about a foot high. There is some browning of the tips of the leaves on the old.

Does transplanting set the growth of the plant back some and is planting too deep a concern (the plant should have been raised up another inch)? We are in zone 6.
