I have a 4 way tie...lol... Between FE Summer Lace, ES TwistnShout, ES Blushing Bride & LD Starlight. My regular ES's look to be right behind the for 2nd place. I thought my hydrangeas I over winter in the Garage were going to bloom 1st. But these above powered right past them.

BB, ES, Twist and Shout and Forever and Ever and David Ramsey and Oak Hill are in full bloom with Redstar, Nikko, Blue Wave and Merritts Supreme right behind. Big Daddy and Ayesha are much futher behind....

Just did a quick walk around the yard. My FE Peppermint is not showing buds, but it is typically behind the rest. Also I have a FE Original and 2 Togethers not showing buds. But have others of the same kind showing small buds. So I imagine they are just a little behind and are ones who took the worse of Spring frost/freezes. Every other Mac in my yard is showing something at least!! 1st year for me that my Blushing Brides didnt clearly win 1st place for blooming 1st in my yard.

From most to least, this is the order (pics taken today):

    Species hydrangea (my favorite)

    Pia

    ES Blushing Bride

Nikko Blue - still in bud.

Correction - My Lemon Daddy is showing a couple of florets from buds 2-3 inches down from where a couple terminal buds were killed. Very nice.

The only sad thing about this year is that my area got hit the hardest with late freezes. Everything would've been in full bloom if it weren't for getting slammed in late April after things started growing around St. Pat's day.

This is even a weird year for paniculata. My Quick Fire had a bloom on every stem last year and this year there are only about 10 buds on 100+ stems in full sun with plenty of moisture!
