I decided to do a little fishing for new stuff floating around and have identified the following new selections. Happy testing!

H. arborescens Lil' Annie (Greannie) - Proven Winners

size 3-4', zone 3-8

"A great low maintenance, cold hardy hydrangea that boasts more numerous flowers and stronger more sturdy stems than other varieties of H. aborescens. The beautiful white blooms last from summer until fall. It is very vigorous during the growing season, and looks great planted in masses, a specimen in a woodland garden setting, or as a background plant in a perennial garden."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

H. macrophylla Fuchsia Glow (Grefuglo) - Proven Winners

size: 4-6', zone 4-9

"A new prolific reblooming Hydrangea known for its compact growth habit and vibrant bloom color. It blooms a vibrant fuchsia pink mophead from summer to fall. As with most Hydrangea, it is a very vigorous grower and is perfect as an accent plant, mass plantings, and near water gardens and ponds."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

H. macrophylla Cabbage Patch (sPg-3-009) - Proven Winners

size: 4-6, zone 7-9

"Features unique textured dark green leaves. It has a lacecap style blossom that is red in color. It is utilized as a specimen, mass plantings, and mixed border plantings."

-------------------------------------------------------------

H. serrata Tutu (Shojo) - Proven Winners

size: 2-3, zone 5-9

"A beautiful Hydrangea that features swirls of soft pink sterile florets that surround the deep pink fertile flowers in a spectacular blooming show. This charming bud-hardy hydrangea is very showy. Flowers may turn purple or blue in acidic soils."

------------------------------------------------------------------

H. macrophylla Firefly (HORCOS) - Ball Hort

size: 4x4', zone 6-9

"Incredible bicolor petals look like theyre painted. Semi-double Mophead has twice the petals. Unique flowers bloom all Summer long."

------------------------------------------------------

H. macrophylla Magical Sunfields (Kolmagics) - Kolster BV

size: 3-4', zone 5-9

"Unique in its color and hard to the touch, rose-red blooms are tinged with bright green. As the flowers mature, green becomes the prominent color, while rose-red appears more like a frame for each petal"

----------------------------------------------------------

H. macrophylla Magical Ruby Red (Kolmaru) - Kolster BV

size: 3x4', zone 5-9

"The reddest hydrangea to date, this beauty will dazzle you with glistening-red, gemstone-like color and non-stop performance. Dark green leaves are nearly black, and offer a lovely backdrop for the durable, repeat-flowering blooms. As the flowers age, they fade to a deeper red-wine color."

I'm sure all are pretty hardy, except maybe Cabbage Patch.

Those new pink/red ones look fairly promising, as people have had trouble getting things like Maltisse and Red Sensation to work well for them.

And it seems like Blarney Stone might be a good upgrade to Lemon Daddy (for those who continue to have trouble with it).

Also, I continue to be impressed by the work of Tim Wood at Spring Meadow Nurseries as he continues to cross many neat new varieties for Proven Winners (about half of the above work is his).

Later, as I come across more new things, I will post them in this thread. The Japanese have contributed some entries too as of late, although a bit more obscure.

    To be continued...

    H. paniculata Pillow Talk (SMHPZIND) - Proven Winners / Spring Meadow

    Size: 6-8', zone 4-9

"Watch a delightful parade of color changes as bright lime green flowers mature to pure white, then blush with pink as summer progresses. Large, full panicles are held upright on sturdy stems."

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    H. quercifolia Jetstream (PIIHQ-I) - First Editions / Plant Introductions

    Size: 5-6'x4-5', zone 5-8

"A quantum leap in H. quercifolia introductions with dense compact non-flopping habit. The lustrous dark green foliage is resistant to leaf spot and turns a fantastic orange-red in autumn. Flowers held high on strong stems are a beautiful white aging to pink. Classic native flowering shrub for the garden, grouping and massing. Peeling rich tawny-brown bark adds winter interest."

Forever & Ever might soon be marketing 'Black Together' as Midnight Magic. Another Irie hybrid, a US Patent was issued for it in 2013 under the name BTI.

There is a page for the plant on F&E but it's not yet listed in their catalog.

    Sweet N Salsa (Midnight Salsa?)
    Purple Bayou
    Electric Rouge (Kolmaru)

    Sweetheart Halos (Wedding Ring?)
    Double Hot Pink (Perfection?)
    Double Dusty Hot Pink (Expression?)

    paniculata:

    Sugar Cone
    Blonde Galaxy (Honeycomb / Levana?)
    White Embers
    Sugar Puff
    White Blush
