My Hydrangea Little Geisha

Planted my new little hydrangea 2 weeks ago. It was quite a small plant with one long blooming branch. I am hoping the rest of the plant catches up with the branch, LOL. I've seen several estimates as to how big "Little Geisha" will get, from 18 inches to 3 feet. Has anyone had one long enough to determine how big it would get in zone 6? I was slightly unimpressed with the color of its flowers when it first came, a bland cream, but now it's starting to do the color shifting thing with the picotee petals and all. Here's a picture. It looks like the newer flowers are more lacecap, while the older flowers are more mophead. Does anyone know why a hydrangea would switch from mophead to lacecap? Is it related to temperature or amount of sunlight?
