RE: leaves curling on oakleaf

There are several possibiites that you can investigate further. Some leaf curling can be caused by cold weather or as a reaction to fungicides/insecticides applied to other nearby plants. Aphids and the hydrangea leaf curler insect can also cause curling of leaves. Aphids like tender new growth; you can release lady beetles and beneficial insects to fight off pests. Some weed preventers can also cause curling but the concentation has to be large. Lastly, check for pottasium defficiency using a soil test kit that checks for low levels of pottasium, nitrogen, etc.
