That sounds perfect, actually.

You may have a perfect location. But I found that you still need to water them more frequently the 1st year. I am in Zone 5a (Chicago, IL) and have planted a ES this spring, in a location similar to yours. When we had a few hot days (upper 80's and low 90's) in late may, the leaves/flowers became wilt. But they recovered in the evening and morning. Now it is almost 2 months since planting and this plant is not complaining as much during hot days. So I think that it is more established and can tolerate the morning sun. Actually lots of new buds come out and some of them started to turn into beautiful pink/blue flowers.
Give it a few more weeks with diligent but careful watering, your hydrangea will thank you for the morning sun.

Should do perfect there. I have 3 hydrangeas planted on the east side of the house and they get sun from sun rise until about the 1pm. I planted a BB and the first week it was doing fine, but last week it started wilting and on part of the plant the leaves turned to mush and had burn spots. I was under watering. I was only watering every other day. I've started deep watering daily and it is looking great now.

Remember that newly planted hydranges should be deeply watered daily for the first two weeks, that will give it enough time to establish a good root system.
