Climbing hydrangea-shoots on ground

My climbing hydrangea is doing just fine adhering to a rock wall.

But it's also putting out shoots/leaders along the ground. I've tried to redirect some of these towards the wall, but it's not always possible. Any harm to trimming these off before the hydrangea takes over the bed?
