Hello, Vicki. This is my personal opinion only and I do not have the Hobelle Series hydrangeas but.... from what I have read in previous posts, they appear have bloomage problems when planted in Zones 6 or less (Spring Hill advertises them as hardy to Zone 5 though).

I suggest you winter protect them if you wish to regularly see blooms. Otherwise, you may see them only when you have mild winters only.

Hello, I have this hydrangea plus my mother does. We seem do be in a similiar zone as you. It will not bloom without winter protection. We do good by wrapping them in double burlap and stuffing them full of leaves. Although in Spring it is not much to look at. I dug mine finally up this year and put it into a pot. You can take them in for winter if you want. It has become a deck plant now. If you want a carefree Macrophylla Hydrangea go with an Endless Summer.
