Planting locations

I was just about to place an order for a few "Twist-N-Shout"s when I noticed some conflicting information on the ES site. The plant info says partial sun, which is what I'm looking for because planned to plant them near the base of a tree in my very shady yard. They'll get some morning sun, and some very filtered evening sun. I have 2 FE Blue Heavens growing near to this location with similar exposure doing well. But...when I went to place the order the information suddenly says full sun. What type of location do you have your Twist-N-Shouts planted?

I'm also going to plant some FE Togethers if I can ever get my hands on them, but I was wondering how sun tolerant they are. The location that I'd like to plant them in would get a lot more early sun, and a little more evening sun than my Blue Heavens, but will still be shaded by the house/large trees throughout the afternoon.

Since you live in the northern half of the country, the sum will not be as strong as it is down here in the summer months so full sun exposure is possible. Up here for example, the leaves will scorch of you let the shrubs get sun past 12pm. Any time you provide afternoon shade to hydrangeas, they will greatly appreciate it since they originated in places where that is normal. Dappled sun in the afternoon is fine too.

I have two FE's planted in sun from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It was supposed to be a temporary location even so they are doing very well. The location you describe should be just fine.

I have 3 Twist n Shouts in very low light (4hrs & less). They do great and are very vigorous in growth and flowering. On the North side of my hone I have 2 Blue Heavens with a Twist n Shout centered between them. Amazing how well they all 3 bloom with so little sun. I have 2 Togethers in some mid day to evening sun and do the best out of my 5. Great locations in my opinion. Even with the drought this year my Togethers have never wilted. After they have established Togethers do great in sunny locations in my yard.

Great! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Now I can go buy 5 new hydrangeas! If I can find what I'm looking for, of course. I have family coming to visit from North Carolina next week, so I have them looking for FE Together for me.
