I need help with my newly aquired hydrangea

A friend gave me a potted hydrangia at my father's funeral. It was beautiful with pale pink petals. The funeral was in Arkansas and I live in Florida where Hydrangeas seem to do quite well. When I brought my plant home I was overwhelmed with everything I had to do after my father's passing and the plant did quite well for a few days in my Florida room on the west side of my home. Then I did an evidently really stupid thing...it was looking a little droopy so I set it outside in the afternoon sun for a few hours. Since doing this the plant is completely drooping. I brought it in immediatley, but to no availe...I don't want to lose this plant, but am unsure what to do...my ultimate goal was to set it in my yard, but now I am afraid to as I am not sure as to where I should or even if I should place it. PLEASE HELP
