Sound like they may have dried out. Did you keep the soil evenly moist -not wet- while in the bucket? Did you drain excess water? Did you keep it in the shade so the sides of the bucket would not heat up and so the plant could adjust?

It is difficult to tell the condition of the plants from here. You could scratch the stems to see if there is green. You also would need to know if the roots are still alive.

If you were not keeping the soil evenly moist, the rootball may have dried out and now actually repels water. An emergency measure may be to dunk it in a pail full of water until all the air bubbles stop and the rootball begins to absorb water. Maybe 1/2 hr? Water as usual after that (1 gallon per watering if a finger inserted into the soil to a depth of 4" feels dry or almost dry). Remember to add 3-4" of mulch up to the drip line.
