Best time to plant a hydrangea

Hello all,

I'm about to order a Akishino-Temari Hydrangea and Amethyst. The nursery does not ship until September 1. My question is this - Would the hydrangeas be ok planting in September or should I wait until October/November? I live in Dallas, which in September it is still very hot here.

I've read somewhere they need a good couple of months to establish the root system and prepare for the winter months. If I wait until October will they survive the winter?

All help is appreciated.

Mike
