I live in zone 5 and a whole lot of years ago when these were finally available to my area, at a ridiculous sum for a one gallon plant ( over $50 if I remember correctly, probably 9+ years ago) I was so excited that I bought seven- which at that particular time I really couldn't afford without sacrifice in other areas.
Part of why I wanted them is because my mother had some and I loved them so much - I was very homesick and having these gave me a piece of a "home" which is now forever gone for me.

I gave those shrubs four and a half years with only an occasional single bloom per plant per year.

So I ripped them out. Although I know that some in my climate must have had a shrub of beautiful blooms re-blooming from spring until the first cold snap ( as so heavily advertised at the time) I have yet to hear of any who had success in a colder climate. It seems that the plants perform as advertised in much warmer climates.

Your flowering hydrangea is lovely, and doing so well in the same zone as my own - it sounds like it is finally ready to go and to give you many years of enjoyment.

Just color me green with envy! ;)

mylab123....I don't know about that.........my dil lives in ct and she has wonderful hydrangea blooms every year......something else must have been wrong.....you should try again...

Do you know what would cause the pink and blue blooms? i thought it was usually one or the other based on the acidity of the soil?

I planted an endless summer between two hostas along our house and I cannot wait for it to mature. I cut all the blooms off and have been baby-ing it and it's growing quite well. Anyways, congrats and thanks for sharing :o)
