Well, maybe. The only time you should not prune paniculatas is around summertime when they develop flower buds. If you prune at the same time that the plant is gearing to bloom, I can see that happening. Can you try pruning them at another time such as when they go dormant in the Fall?

The missing piece of the puzzle is why no blooms this year? It sounds as if the last time that you pruned was last summer. If so, that could have resulted in no blooms in 2009. It would not affect bloomage in 2010. Unless you alaos pruned this summer again as the plant was about to bloom.

I think it may just be a matter of timing and climate. Some of my peegees are in bloom already, but I have a few that only just began to show signs last week. It could be that there are still some blooms left in your future. Do you know which cultivars you planted? Something like Quickfire should probably already be showing blooms, but others (Tardiva, especially) may not start until a little later in the season. It could also be a matter of them still trying to acclimatize to their new(ish) surroundings. Though I wouldn't expect they would be completely flowerless. Hopefully they've still got some in store for you- good luck!

I think mine are Tardiva, but I didn't keep the tags so I am not sure. When will I learn to keep the tags?!
