The form of the blooms reminds me of Merrit Supreme but I cannot get MS to turn blue here. It resists turning blue and takes a purplish color in my amended acidic soil instead.

Florist hydrangeas sold around Easter are notoriously difficult to identify. If the center was blue, I would have guessed Nikko Blue.Let's see what others say.

Hi Hyed, it looks beautiful, similar to the one i just got as clearance at my local Costco (see picture), the label says "Hydrangea macrophylla 'Matilda Gutges'. Should grow up to about 4 ft. It's amazing that you can keep the blue colour on yours:) do you amend the soil regularly? I was just thinking to keep mine in a container just to easily control the Ph level. I don't have a lot of experience with hydrangeas, lost a nikko blue shrub few yrs ago, and the only 1 I had was a Pee Gee which is doing ok so far. thanks. Hala

Hi Hala,I think you hit it right on. I have never heard of Matilda G but they sure look a like,as for the acidtiy level in the Boston area everything is true Blue. Thanks again

I have the same one. Mind is either blue, purple or pink depending on where we are I. The season. I don't know which way the acidity would affect it as I don't add much of anything to the soil.
