Need ID

I bought this plant last year in clearance without a tag in HD. They said it is Hydrangea. This year the leaves come out but no flowers. Please identify the plant!

Thanks!

Pretty hard to ID a hydrangea without any flowers :-)) The best I can tell you is that it looks like some sort of paniculata.

Thanks, at least I have some clues.

I saw it sitting at the clearance corner last November, showing no sign of vital life. But it's only $2 and the staff told me if it cannot make it, I can get the money back. I keep checking it after last frost. It has its first leaf at June:).

I am so happy it survives. Hoping it will flower next year. I don't know it need full sun or not. My backyard is part sun, 4 - 5 hours of sun.

Looks like a dwarf variety like H. paniculata 'Bombshell'.

Seeing it bloom (whenever that will be) will help with the final ID.
