Transplanting hydrangeas in summer

Two years ago I made a shade garden down the side of my house. It was shaded by the neighbors trees and tall shrubs. I have both Endless Summer hydrangeas and Oakleaf Hydrangeas there. About a month ago, he relandscaped (translated that means hardscaped) his backyard and cut down all that shade. Now, it's full sun - 10am to 5pm. I live in Livermore, CA -- summer temps in the 90 - 100 range and my poor hydrangeas are baking! The leaves are crisping and turning brown on the ES and are turning a sickly yellow on the Oakleaf.

I know it's the worst possible time to transplant, but I don't think they'll survive until the fall cooldown (Late Oct). I do have a shady spot to move them to, but it's very shady. I'll probably need to limb up the tree to get the Oakleaf enough sun.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Debbie
