Watering hydrangeas

I have several Endless Summer hydrangeas which get a ton of blooms every year, but have trouble when our weather gets hot. I live in the PNW, so it doesn't happen often but tends to dry out some of the blooms. I try to keep up with watering daily during hot spells, but wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The first time they turned brown I thought it was because I didn't get them watered before the heat of the day hit. How often should I water them, is there a specific time of day that is better and should I water at the bottom avoiding the blooms?

Thanks!
