Hydrangea - withered, dry flowers

Hey all,

I have been reading these forums for awhile and have found lots of good information and advice, many of which I have heeded. Now I have an issue of my own that I have not been able to solve regarding my Hydrangea. It is a well established bush about 5FT in diameter and about 5ft in height. The problem is that the flowers, although they bloom, are withered (or dry). The petals are hard and curled up. If I were to guess on the type of species it is I would guess H. macrophylla (not sure which one specifically). In any case, I have lots of flower blooms but they all suffer the same problem. I was thinking that perhaps this Hydrangea needs a radical trimming?? Or perhaps fertilizer? I have never given it fertilizer ever.

Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. I can take apicture if you think it would help.

Regards,

Maverick
