Lady in Red ????

I have a new Lady in Red just planted in July. I bought it but it had no blooms. Will this plant bloom next year and if so, what are the monthly stages of bloom until fall?

RE: Lady in Red ????

In your climate, you will need to offer winter protection to ensure blooming. Most macrophyllas are root hardy only to zone 5 so be sure to mulch the plant well also to protect against winter cold damaging the roots.

I can't speak directly to how this plant will perform in your climate, but here this plant will bud up in May and June and begin blooming in late June (typically) or early July and continue until late summer/early fall, weather dependant. Fall will produce some coloring of the foliage as well, as this is what this cultivar is known for.
