| HELP! ;)
Trust me, Ive researched and spent hours trying to solve this and wouldnt waste anyones time if it wasnt something I could resolve.
The deer did eat this plant in its first year and since then I have fenced it and the following 2 yrs the blooms start then quickly shrivel and fade.
One was soil but I have azalea, rhodies, brunnera, etc all planted in same spot w/ morning sun and all bloom nicely.
My leaves are NOT ridged around the outside. SEE PIC. They are not heart shaped either so I dont think I have the macrophyla variety. Im guessing annabelle ? Help me please ... I can provide more pics if necessary. Thanks all. Rob |

| Whoa, can't say I've ever seen one behave like that (uniformly over a plant that large)! Also, the leaves and stems are very peculiar. It looks like it wants to be a lacecap. There couldn't be many that produce narrow glossy leaves like that - but unfortunately I have no guesses as to what it is. It's got me bothered though, so I'll keep digging, so to speak. |

| I'd also say that that is NOT a hydrangea. Perhaps a viburnum. Try posting on the Name That Plant forum. Lots of knowledgeable folks there. |

| Another vote for this not being a hydrangea, the leaves are too shiny and I have never seen a hydrangea with shiny leaves and shape as the one in the photo above. It's too bad you spent so much time investigating hydrangeas. I would take the advice of carrieb above and post the photo in the Name that Plant forum or try the shrubs forum, as it very well could be a viburnum. Good luck! |

| Thanks all. I will research viburnum and post on the forum you mentioned and hope. Ill keep you posted if I ever resolve this. Thx. |

| Might be burning bush if it has fall color. |
