For earlier bloom, you might add some Siberian Iris in a jeweled blue tone and some delphiniums.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have a Siberian iris 'Orville Fay.' Has not been as vigorous as I'd like. I also have several clumps of bearded iris 'Victoria Falls' which do very well.

I don't have much luck with Delphinium, except maybe 'belladonna.' However, if I see several nice specimens of, say, 'Summer Skies', I'll get them and put them in the garden, leave them in the pots.

It's the hydrangeas that have had the greatest effect. Now that I have a few four footers, they are definitely high impact. I especially like the fact that they are in bloom during the 4th of July, my favorite time of year.

I use a lot of white flowers to eliminate a monochromatic effect, and to further highlight the blue.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful blue garden. I love the weeping blue atlas. Is that a bird's nest spruce in front? I also like the "blue" baskets on shepherd's hooks, great idea. I will borrow that idea for my limited space, I'm planting a blue/peach/white garden, plus sneaking in some orange.

The plant in front of the bird bath is Cunninghamia lanceolata 'Glauca', Blue China Fir. We call it 'Cleopatra' from Addams Family fame. I keep cutting the leader. I've been told it's only a matter of time and it will take off; I'll probably have to transplant it. The blue basket is 'techno blue lobelia' much bluer than the photo shows.
I also have a Hydrangea 'Shooting Star', which I got last year, but it's very small. I have a feeling that it will be a magnificent Hydrangea when it gets larger.
Eventually the garden will be all Hydrangeas, along with the weeping cedar, hanging baskets, and Caryopteris for late summer bloom.
The garden is in full sun from sunup to around 12 noon. Shade after that. Has a very cooling effect on a hot summer day
