Hydrangea suggestions needed

My daughter said she would like a hydrangea for her birthday. I am trying to convince her that Quick Fire would be just what she needs but to her a hydrangea is one with snowball blooms. Since I prefer lace caps I don't know a lot about snowballs.

She lives in the warmest edge of Z5. She is trying to find plants to fill a front yard which is in full sun and can get hot and dry. Of course anything she plants will need to be watered the first year. She is not a gardener so it should be easy care. I just read that Annabelle can need to have its blooms staked which seems a pain. A plant that got fairly large would help filling the space. Snowballs seem to prefer afternoon shade and even this far north I don't know if it will be too hot and sunny.

Any suggestions?
